One of the most eagerly anticipated events on the Southern Ontario car scene is the annual Spring Classic Car Auction. Everyone looks forward to getting out and seeing friends that have been in hiding all Winter and seeing who is selling what. Like most big classic car auctions, this is really not a local event, as potential buyers arrive from all over North America to see what is on the block.
This years auction includes a few special Canadian cars, from a Shelby GT350 that was sold in Canada and has remained here for the past 40 plus years to a 1918 Ford Model T Hack that was originally a taxi in downtown Toronto and still has its original kerosene lamps. Unlike some of the big auctions in the States, where most of the cars are collection type cars that likely wont be driven, this show includes many Sixties era muscle cars that are nice drivers rather than full on show cars. If someone is looking for wheels to take to the weekly cruise, there is lots of choice. There is a huge selection of memorabilia on the block, along with a bunch of vendors selling everything from vintage lights to reproduction tin.
The event runs from today until Sunday at the Toronto International Center. Full details are here.
