Travel Insurance Direct Reports Increases in Worldwide Baggage Loss

Sydney, NSW (PRWEB) May 03, 2011 — Even though baggage handling technologies have significantly increased over time, the success rate of these technologies has been recently compromised by natural disasters and flight disruptions according to Travel Insurance Direct, a leading online Australian insurance provider.

Recently the insurer announced that luggage loss in 2010 had significantly increased for the first time in three years. Home insurance costs rise fastest in Surrey

People living in Surrey and Scotland have seen the biggest hikes in the cost of home insurance, according to new research from moneysupermarket.com. While many homeowners across the country have been hit with substantial increases in premiums – the typical cost for buildings and contents cover has gone up by 6% over the last 14 months – people living in Surrey and Scotland have been hardest hit by price rises.

Analysis of 3.4 million quotations, conducted by moneysupermarket.com, reveals that these unfortunate individuals have seen their home insurance premiums jump by up to 46% over the last 14 months, with those living in Dorking, Surrey suffering the largest increases.

Cover provided for households in Dorking has soared from an average of £119 to £174 since February 2010 – that’s a rise of 15p per day.

Meanwhile, homeowners living in the city centre of Edinburgh and Milngavie in Glasgow have experienced similar increases of 45% and 40% respectively. <

2011 New York International Auto Show is a rockin’ good time

The auto show season traditionally comes to a close following one of the Worlds most important shows, the New York International Auto Show. Located in the Jacob Javits Convention Center, the show is open to the public now until May 1. Visitors to the show can expect to see one of the most visually interesting shows of the year.

That being said, it was a bit of an odd show for many members of the automotive media. While press days were on Wednesday and Thursday, a good number of the actual car reveals took place on Monday or Tuesday at private, invite only events. The most notable of these was the launch of the new, New Beetle which happened at a 3 country simulcast event hosted by MTV and saw the Black Eyed Peas perform. Sadly, we missed that show, having arrived in New York on Tuesday.
